After 14 seasons with the Red Wings and 16 in the NHL, 37-year old Kirk Maltby announced his retirement from hockey on Tuesday. Maltby had received an offer to play with the Grand Rapids Griffins, but decided instead to retire and focus on his family and watching his daughter and baby twins grow. In the course of the 1072 games Maltby played in a Red Wings jersey, he helped the team win four Stanley Cups.
