It’s not too late to make plans and sign up for one of the oldest Grand Valley State University traditions — Sibs & Kids Weekend.

Spotlight Production’s Sibs & Kids Weekend will be held this Friday and Saturday on the Allendale campus.

GVSU students, faculty and staff are invited to bring their siblings, kids and friends for a weekend of interactive activities including crafts, games, performances and prizes. This year, the program is set around a circus theme.

The program begins at 4 p.m. on Friday where guests will register, followed by an evening of carnival foods and games including a bounce house, a green screen, create-a-critter, face painting and arts and crafts in the Kirkhof Center.

Balloon sculpting, laser tag and a late night movie are also scheduled.

The Field House Arena will also have carnival foods and games available, including inflatables, a turbo trike race, open swim, rock climbing and a photo booth.

There will be a parent’s reception at 6 p.m. in the Alumni House.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and similar activities will take place in the same locations from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Magician Rusty Ammerman will perform in the Kirkhof’s Grand River Room at 2 p.m.

On Saturday night, GVSU Pew Student Services, Housing and Residence Life and Grand Rapids Community College will sponsor “Night at the YMCA” at the David D. Young YMCA, located at 457 Lake Michigan Dr. in Grand Rapids, from 8 p.m. to midnight. All activities will be free for GVSU students and their guests.

The registration for Sibs & Kids Weekend activities is $20 for the first guest and $15 for each additional guest. Activities are appropriate for ages six and up.
