New GVSU building receives Gold LEED certification

Grand Valley State University’s Field Station building at the Annis Water Resources Institute has been certified as LEED Gold. The building was completed and dedicated in 2013, but the LEED certification and review was completed this year. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and is an internationally recognized certification system for environmentally sustainable construction projects. Certification is based on many factors including site sustainability, water efficiency, energy use, materials and resources, environmental quality and innovation in design. Gold certification is the second highest rating a building can receive.
