A huge part of what game day is happens before kickoff: tailgating. Everyone comes together in the surrounding parking lots as a sea of blue with hot dogs or burgers in hand, hearts syncing to the bass and cornhole to pass the time. It’s Laker game day.

Lanthorn sports staff writer Natalie Longroy and GVTV sports director Paul McPherson capture what it means to be a Laker on a football Saturday night, following the perspective of a student fan and marching band member. However, this Saturday stands apart from the rest. Grand Valley State played rival Ferris State at Lubbers Stadium Saturday, Oct. 8.
