Vandalized car seen on campus

A sedan with the words “cheating whore” was seen on Grand Valley State University’s Allendale Campus and was reported to the GVSU Police Department late last week, according to Sgt. Jeff Stoll.

Stoll said the GVPD received many reports of the vehicle last week. GVPD spoke with the owner of the car, who declined any police investigation for the actions.

“We did talk to the victim in that case,” Stoll said. “We feel good about the fact … that it shouldn’t be a large-scale issue, as evidence would point out that it’s not. It’s more of an outburst related to a couple people and not a large-scale issue. We don’t know exactly when it happened, but it was reported late last week.”

Stoll said the nature of the language was “disappointing.”

“It’s just not language you would incorporate in your everyday vocabulary, so it’s just disappointing that someone would feel that way, that that would be the best course of action,” he said. “We certainly don’t want that to be the case. We don’t condone any behavior that would indicate that regardless of whatever course of action the victim would like to choose.”
