Intersections Ambassadors accepting new members

The Grand Valley State University organization Intersections Ambassadors (IA), who participate in peer education surrounding social justice, are accepting new member applications for the 2018-19 academic year until Saturday, April 14, at 5 p.m.

The organization operates out of the GVSU Division of Inclusion and Equity and GVSU Social Justice Centers, and offers a platform for students interested in educating others about social justice to reach out and inform their peers. The position in the organization comes with a stipend which is distributed bi-weekly.

Lavender Graduation set for Wednesday, April 18

The Grand Valley State University Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center is set to host their annual Lavender Graduation on Wednesday, April 18, at 4:30 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center’s Pere Marquette Room (2204).

Lavender Graduation works to honor the academic achievements of LGBTQ students that are graduating from GVSU. Lavender Graduations are held at numerous universities around the country, aiming to create a celebratory safe space for graduating college seniors in the LGBTQ community. Refreshments will be provided.

GV STAGE to present ‘Popular Girls Go To Hell’

The Grand Valley State University student-run performance organization, STAGE, is set to host a showing of its full-length original play “Popular Girls Go To Hell,” on Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14, at 8 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center’s Area 51.

The story of “Popular Girls Go To Hell” centers around three high-school girls who make a deal with a demon to become popular in school, only to later find out it was not everything they hoped it would be. The story addresses issues such as mental illness, sexuality, gender and complicated friendships. The event is free to the public and is LIB 100- and 201-approved.

Women and Leadership event set for Sunday, April 15

Entrepreneur and Detroit native Jacqueline Baker is set to visit Grand Valley State University and engage in a conversation of women and leadership on Sunday, April 15, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the DeVos Center’s University Club (107C).

Author of “Leader by Mistake” and sought-after etiquette and leadership consultant, Baker will be speaking to attendees about growing their career and using their mistakes as a source of power. The GVSU discussion is the second event on Baker’s five-city 2018 tour. The event is free and refreshments will be provided for attendees.
