Quick Recap: GVSU football beats Indy in season opener, 30-7

The Grand Valley State football team opened their season with a win on Thursday, Aug. 30, beating the Indianapolis Greyhounds 30-7. After Indianapolis scored the first touchdown of the game early in the second quarter, the Laker offense exploded, putting up 30 unanswered points to secure the win.

Quarterback Bart Williams threw for 243 yards, completing 50 percent of his passes and throwing two touchdowns, both to Austin Paritee. Paritee also gained 135 yards receiving on just eight receptions.

Running back Chawntez Moss averaged nine yards per carry, finishing the game with 135 yards and a touchdown. 

The defense was able to hold Indy to just 93 passing yards and 110 yards, as they averaged 4.32 yards per play. Kalen Dunham and Jacob Studdard each had interceptions.

GVSU’s next game is Saturday, Sept. 8 at Delta State. The game starts at 7 p.m.
