Spotlight Productions announces Justin Moore concert for April
Country singer will have local artist Kari Lynch as opening act
Spotlight Productions, Grand Valley State University’s programming board, announced Wednesday that country artist Justin Moore will be the headliner for the spring concert. Moore is known for hits such as “Backwoods,” “Small Town USA” and his most recent single “Bait a Hook.”
“We like to bring a variety of artists to campus and it was time we brought a country artist to hopefully bring in a good crowd,” said Hannah Malik, vice president of records for Spotlight Productions.
Moore will be the first country concert at GVSU since 2007’s Josh Gracin show.
“Students at Grand Valley and in the area have always expressed their love for country music,” said Natalie Wozniak, Spotlight’s music committee chair.
The opening act, the Kari Lynch Band, is from Grand Rapids. The band has quite a resume as well, and will play with Frankie Ballard tonight in Traverse City.
“We can’t wait to have an up-and-coming country artist and a local country artist that does so well in the Grand Rapids area,” Wozniak said.
Moore will perform in GVSU’s Fieldhouse Arena on April 12 at 9 p.m. (doors open at 8 p.m.).
Tickets will go on sale March 12. They are $10 for students, $15 for faculty/staff/alumni and $20 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the 20/20 Desk in the Kirkhof Center or at startickets.com.
“We’re hoping for a big turnout,” said Spotlight music committee member Megan Riley. “It’s going to be a blast.”
