Back to School
Middle-aged undergraduate Edward Holman describes university life through the eyes of a man returning to school after a lifetime as a full-time poet.
The name of the game is ping pong

Recently, the intramural sports department put on a table tennis tourney that yours truly had the privilege of being in. Instead of the efforts of these men going unnoticed by
GVSU students, I thought I would use my blog to report this tournament.
The same boat
February 29
Spring Break is almost upon us and I like everyone else have two or three midterms this week. I wish everyone the best on them and know that right now students are trying to organize all the notes and lectures and text into segments that are not overwhelming.
Separated by technology
February 1
The more I experience the technology that we encounter today, the more I believe that instead of being some kind of dream come true for relationships it is really a nightmare.
Back to crowded buses and books
January 22
How quickly time flies. A minute ago it seemed we were lounging around in our bathrobes eating pizza, relishing extra sleep and not reading much but maybe a few Christmas cards.
Final exam time is here
December 1
We are in the home stretch of fall semester. It’s time to put aside Facebook messaging, computer games, partying and the like. OK, put aside just the partying. Anyway, it’s time to get down to the business of preparing for final exams.
Buried in schoolwork
November 21
Generally about this time in the semester my apartment is a mess, my computer area has glasses and dishes all around it, I am buried in homework and have several tests and or papers due. I am sure this is not all that uncommon and I should actually say that my apartment is never really that organized in the first place. Among even students who are very organized, things can probably get messy when more than one project is due at the same time.
Planning homework around Turkey Day
November 13
Well, we are closing in on Thanksgiving.
Making the grade
November 6
Having not been back to school in a few decades, I thought maybe things in college life would change.
Reflections on bus behaviors
October 30
Since enrolling at Grand Valley State University and riding the bus almost every other day for more than a year, I have had some time to think about and jot down a few bus behaviors.
Any questions?
October 23
Welcome to almost halfway through the fall semester, fellow students.
