GVSU alumnus publishes book

If someone had told Grand Valley State University alumnus Josh Cassidy during his undergraduate years that he would be the author of a published book, he wouldn’t have believed them. Flash forward 11 years into the future, and Cassidy has done just that.


GVSU students create modern Dutch art exhibit

Grand Valley State University art students Catie Brandt and Katrina McVay have created a unique exhibition showcasing original pieces of art inspired by Dutch artists including Pieter de Hooch, Johannes Vermeer and Pieter Claesz. The two student artists have transported old works of art into a contemporary time using various modern interpretations of common Dutch symbolism.

Guest artist hosts jewelry workshop at GVSU

Guest artist Anne Havel visited Grand Valley State University Monday, Oct. 24 and Tuesday, Oct. 25 to present a lecture and host a workshop geared toward students of all majors interested in jewelry and metalsmithing on using enameling as an artistic form.

'Connected' exhibit to create links among strangers

Forming connections with others is a vital part of being human. While some may find it easy to create new connections, others struggle to make the first move, especially after arriving to a large campus like Grand Valley State University for the first time. Erin Fisher, event and exhibit coordinator for the Mary Idema Pew Library on the Allendale Campus, knows exactly how essential connections are to new students and sought out a fresh way to bring strangers together.
