GVSU photography students create senior thesis exhibition

Grand Valley State University photography students Sue Ackerman, Kristen Hollingsworth, Amanda Lautner, Brianna Overkamp, Autumn Perez, James Redmond, Nicole Trost, Chelsea Whitaker and Mallory Wolfgram have collaborated on the senior thesis exhibition, "Phosphorescent." Currently on display at the GVSU Art Gallery in the Performing Arts Center on the Allendale Campus, "Phosphorescent" features a variety of themes and images, all reflecting personal interests and experiences of the photographers. The exhibition will be open to the public through Friday, Dec. 9.

GVSU professors present four-piece exhibit in Chicago

Meghan Moe Beitiks, a visual studies and foundations professor at Grand Valley State University and her colleagues, Marissa Benedict, Liz Ensz and Lindsey French, presented four stations of performance art varying in complexities of sites, systems, ecologies, communication, matter and relevant social histories. Their work was put on display this past week at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

If someone had told Grand Valley State University alumnus Josh Cassidy during his undergraduate years that he would be the author of a published book, he wouldn’t have believed them. Flash forward 11 years into the future, and Cassidy has done just that.


GVSU students create modern Dutch art exhibit

Grand Valley State University art students Catie Brandt and Katrina McVay have created a unique exhibition showcasing original pieces of art inspired by Dutch artists including Pieter de Hooch, Johannes Vermeer and Pieter Claesz. The two student artists have transported old works of art into a contemporary time using various modern interpretations of common Dutch symbolism.
