Column: Tigers poised for playoffs after 2016's disappointment

Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet. Upon hearing that one sentence written by my incredible late grandfather James Hartzell, the world knows that spring has officially arrived. Yes, it’s that time again. The smell of freshly cut grass, the mist of the hose watering the infield dirt and the crack of a ball colliding with a round bat (which is the hardest thing to accomplish in sports, by the way) attack our senses, telling us that the greatest sport of them all is officially back.

GVSU baseball opens 2017 with four wins

In the team’s first action of the season, the Grand Valley State baseball team traveled down to Nashville and swept a four-game weekend series. The Lakers started the weekend with two wins over Trevecca Nazarene (5-2, 10-4) followed by two more wins over Alderson Broaddus (6-4, 10-9).

GVSU baseball 2017 preview

After a quick exit in the NCAA Regional Tournament in Quincy, Illinois, the Grand Valley State baseball team is looking to take the experience gained last season and convert it to a successful 2017 season.
