GVSU's Glick goes from walk-on to must-have catcher

Playing baseball at the college level is all about opportunity, and, as a freshman, opportunities are limited. With the possibility of being assigned a redshirt or spending a year behind someone with more experience, a first-year player must make a quick impact to earn playing time. Sophomore catcher Connor Glick was given that opportunity as a freshman last season on the Grand Valley State baseball team, and he made the most of it.

GVSU wins three of four at Maryville Baseball Invite

After dropping two of three games in its 2016 season-opening series, the Grand Valley State baseball team rattled off three straight wins in the Maryville Baseball Invite the following weekend. The Lakers (4-3) won the first two games over Drury University and Winona State, 7-2 and 8-4, and throttled Maryville University 14-3 in the back end of a Saturday doubleheader. GVSU's lone loss in the weekend came in a 3-2 drop against Maryville on Feb. 29.

GVSU baseball drops opening series

Rocky first innings doomed the Grand Valley State baseball team during its season-opening series at Southern Indiana from Feb. 19-21. The Lakers won the first game of the series, but dropped the next two by wide margins. In the three games, GVSU surrendered 14 total runs in the first innings.

Collaborative GVSU effort produces two documentaries

Tucked deep in a corner, down a narrow hallway in Lake Superior Hall, a man sits, ready to share his stories.The stories start in the World War II era, traversing through the Midwest, interacting with female trailblazers and Philip K. Wrigley of Chicago Cubs and chewing gum lore. The stories travel south to a rundown baseball stadium in Havana, Cuba, and brush up with foreign politics.
