GVSU men's basketball drops opening contest by last-second 3-pointer to Missouri-St. Louis

Down by 1 point, Grand Valley State men’s basketball senior Chris Dorsey dribbled around the perimeter, then found an opening inside for a layup to seemingly give the the Lakers the victory with 10 seconds remaining in regulation against the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. However, the Tritons came right back down the floor and nailed a corner 3-point shot with two seconds remaining to beat the Lakers 64-62 in their regular-season opener Friday, Nov. 10, at Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan.

After an incredibly successful season and adding their 11th-straight GLIAC Tournament Championship under their belt, the Grand Valley State women’s soccer team can add one more notch to that belt as they enter the postseason. On Monday, Nov. 6, the Lakers (18-3-0, 9-0-0 GLIAC) were selected as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Season preview: GVSU men's basketball prepared to turn heads this season

Just 24 hours before their final exhibition matchup against the University of Michigan, the Grand Valley State men’s basketball team stepped on the court to begin an intense practice Thursday, Nov. 2. While the Lakers dropped the contest by an 82-50 final score against the Wolverines Friday, Nov. 3, it became clear that the focus for this season’s team is at an all-time high.
