Prepare for Presidents' Ball Just a month after students return from winter break, Grand Valley State University will hold its annual Presidents’ Ball. Students are encouraged to bring their formal wear back to school with them in preparation for the event.

Exam Cram Students at Grand Valley State University have the opportunity to release some of the stress caused by studying for exams this week. University Libraries has planned a week of free events for students participate in. Events include: yoga, coloring, therapy dogs, a book exchange and other activities. The Mary Idema Pew Library will begin 24-hour operation Monday, Dec. 5 with the Steelcase Library offering extended hours beginning the same day. Argo Tea will expand operation hours and free coffee will be served in the Steelcase Library starting at 6 p.m. every day until it’s gone. 'Before the Flood' showing The Grand Valley State University Office of Sustainability will show “Before the Flood” Monday, Nov. 28 at noon. The showing will take place in Kirkhof Center Room 2259. “Before the Flood” is a National Geographic movie produced by Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio and Fisher Stevens.

The 2016 Service Award from Gilda's Club in Grand Rapids was awarded to Grand Valley State University. The award was presented Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the third annual "Gilda’s Night of Gratitude." The award was accepted by Paul Stansbie, associate dean of the College of Community and Public Service on the university's behalf.

The annual Last Lecture sponsored by student senate will take place Thursday, Nov. 17. Grand Valley State University professors Paul Cornish and David Leonard will present at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Mary Idema Pew Library. Professors are nominated by students, faculty and staff members to present a lecture.

Grand Valley State University, Spectrum Health and the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine will sponsor a lecture geared toward providing information and resources about autism. The lecture titled, "Individuals with Autism in Our Community" will take place Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences. Community organizations providing autism support and resources will be available before the event from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

GVSU Holds Technology Workshop SAP University Alliance and Grand Valley State University’s Seidman College of Business hosted a technology workshop Friday, Oct. 28. Over 20 students from Cass Technical High School in Detroit participated in hands-on exercises and put their critical thinking skills to the test.
