Working in a safe and secure cyber community is necessary when conducting business throughout the web to conserve any virtual-based entity, from an individual’s online presence to national security. To highlight how cyber security can affect various entities, like politics and space, CNN national security commentator Mike Rogers will speak at the Peter F. Secchia Breakfast Lecture Monday, Feb. 13, at Grand Valley State University’s L. William Seidman Center.

Leading the way

Four African American college students sat down at lunch counter at a Woolworth retail store in Greensboro, North Carolina Feb. 1, 1960. Each asked for a cup of coffee – the store followed a “whites only” policy at the lunch counter. They were asked to leave; they refused to give up their seats.


Putting the patient first

To discuss the role of design thinking in health care and the importance of putting patients’ needs first, Ryan Armbruster, vice president of innovation, research and development at Optum, delivered a presentation titled “Design Thinking in Health Care Services” Monday, Jan. 23, in the DeVos Center. The presentation was followed by a Q&A.
