D2 hockey closes out regular season with two wins

The Grand Valley State men’s club hockey team (Division II) can be proud to say they finished the regular season with a record of 22-4-3 after sweeping its final weekend series against Davenport. The Lakers won the first game in a back-and-forth 5-4 victory Friday, Feb. 17, while completing the sweep the next day with a 7-4 victory to close out the season.

GVSU shooting club qualifies for first ever appearance in NRA Championship

The GVSU Shooting Club had a performance for the record books in the NRA Intercollegiate Indoor Metric Position Smallbore Rifle Sectional and Precision Air Rifle Standing Sectional Feb. 11 at the Jackson County Sportsman’s Club. The Lakers’ four-man smallbore team finished second overall in the sectional with a score of 1967. The air rifle team finished second overall as well, with a score of 2095.

GVSU shooting club wins two virtual events

The Grand Valley State shooting club won two monthly Orion Scoring Virtual Events Tuesday, Jan. 31. The event, which is an online event specifically designed to be fun for the shooters, is a way for college shooters to be able to test their skills and compare them with other competitors around the country. The GVSU students were shooting from Comstock Park, Michigan.

There may be no trophy or titles for accomplishments off the field, but the Grand Valley State student-athletes and members of the GVSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in particular convey the same pride an enthusiasm while making a big difference in the community as they do on the athletic fields.

GVSU club wrestling hosts Laker Classic

This isn’t WWE wrestling where everything is scripted. There is no Undertaker or John Cena. Instead, the Grand Valley State club wrestling team has Harun Bogdanic and Dylan Dwyer. Saturday, Feb. 4 the GVSU club wrestling team hosted the Laker Classic in Fieldhouse Arena.

Club quidditch team hosts first home tournament

For the better part of a decade, lacrosse has been known as the fastest growing sport in the nation. At Grand Valley State University, there is another sport that is gaining popularity that also uses a stick, but this sport comes from the wizarding world of arguably the most popular book franchise in history.
