GVSU DII hockey sweeps Michigan State

The Grand Valley State Division II men’s hockey club swept Michigan State in a two game home-and-away series over the weekend. It marks the first time GVSU has swept Michigan State in more than five years. The Lakers (24-4-1) topped the Spartans 6-1 at home and then 6-3 in East Lansing.

For years, Dan Teskey diligently coached the Grand Valley State women’s lacrosse club, compiling above-average records and improving each year. When Teskey received a job offer from Madonna University that he couldn't pass up, he left the place he spent many years at to start something new at another.

GVSU wrestling meets expectations in 2015-16

Rick Bolhuis, head coach of the Grand Valley State club wrestling team, said early in the wrestling season that he fully expected his team to contend for a national title. Bolhuis' expectation became reality on Jan. 22 and 23, as the Lakers secured a second-place finish at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association national duals in Dalton, Georgia.

GVSU DIII hockey suffers rough weekend

The Grand Valley State Division III men’s hockey team put forth a valiant effort over the weekend by battling back in both games of a home-and-away series against conference rival Aquinas (20-2-1-1), but could only come away with a tie.

Offensive defenseman shines for GVSU hockey

In the last few years, all across the sports world, new rules have been put in place to allow players and teams to score more, as today’s sports society has put a premium on offensive output. If the game isn’t high scoring, the fans can lose interest. It takes a true sports fan to appreciate good defensive play.

GVSU DIII hockey splits series with Hope

The Grand Valley State Division III men’s hockey team split its weekend series against Hope College. The Lakers were able to come back from a slow start to win the first game on the road Friday, but the same slow start hindered GVSU, as it couldn't recover on Saturday night.
