GVSU's Zach Panning scratching the surface on potential

He holds a Grand Valley State track and field record, finished 2016 as a top-five cross country runner nationally, received All-American honors more than once and yet he’s only a sophomore. Laker distance star Zach Panning has proven he is one of the best, but unless you’re his teammate, his friend, or one of the numerous opponents he’s whizzed past during a race, you probably wouldn’t be able to pick him out of a crowd.

GVSU looking to get out of regionals unscathed

Heading into the regional championships this Saturday, Nov. 5 in Evansville, Indiana, both the men’s and women’s Grand Valley State cross country teams are in a secure spot. On a national level, both teams are ranked second overall, while on a regional level, both sides are ranked first overall.

GVSU cross country men, women place first at Lewis Conference Crossover

The Grand Valley State cross country team traveled to Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, to compete in the Lewis Conference Crossover Saturday Oct. 8. Overall, it was a very successful day for the Lakers. For the women’s 6,000 meter race, GVSU finished in first place with an average time of 22:06:29. For the men’s 8,000 meter race, GVSU finished in first place with an average time of 24:44:14.
