GVSU defeats SVSU 62-56 in double overtime

Tied 56-56 in double overtime, Saginaw Valley State elected to go for a fourth down on fourth-and-one 16 yards away from the end zone. Grand Valley State defensive tackle Mark Rosenquist stuffed Cardinal running back Tommy Scott Jr. on third-and-one, and the Cardinals originally sent out their field goal unit for fourth down. But the Cardinals forgot to send out a holder for the field goal, and they called a timeout—during which, they decided to try and make the play.

Three point stance: Battle of the Valleys preview

Grand Valley State football is ending the season on what may be its toughest two-game stretch of the regular season. The Lakers (9-0, 8-0 GLIAC) will travel to Saginaw Valley State to spar with the 5-3 Cardinals this Saturday, Nov. 5, and then will hit the road again the following week to play the 7-2 Wayne State Warriors Saturday, Nov. 12 in the regular season finale.

GVSU strives for zero-waste football games

Everyday, Americans throw away the equivalent of 63,000 garbage trucks of trash, according to the Recycling Coalition of Utah. Of that, half of what they throw out could have been recycled. Instead, it’s taken to landfills where it sits and takes up space.

GVSU defeats Findlay on senior night 28-17

Grand Valley State receiver Matt Williams picked a good night to have his best performance of the season. The Lakers’ leading receiver had 10 catches, 179 yards and two touchdowns in GVSU’s 28-17 win over the Findlay Oilers (4-5) on senior night at home Saturday, Oct. 29.
