Alex Scott has been nothing short of dominant in his golf career at Grand Valley State; so dominant that he has already become the most accomplished golfer in the school's history. Scott recently added yet another accomplishment to his resume with an impressive performance at the 2018 Patriot All American Tournament in Litchfield Park, Ariz., finishing tied for second after shooting a 208 (-2) for the entire weekend.

The Grand Valley State men’s golf team recently signed four new golfers for the 2019-20 season. Drew Coble, Charles DeLong, Alex Jordan and Nick Krueger are all golfers who have racked up accomplishments in their high school careers. With the graduation of one of the team's best senior classes ever, the four recruits will be coming into next season with expectations to contribute right away, as head coach Gary Bissell reflects on how good it is, and how good it can be.

The Grand Valley State University men’s golf team traveled to Findlay Country Club on Sept. 24 and 25 to participate in the Doc Spragg Fall Invitational. This is only the second tournament of the year for the Lakers, the first of which saw them take home the victory. This tournament would have a similar finish. On day one of the tournament, GVSU shot a 291 as a team, good enough to put them in second place going into the final round. The only team to perform better was the University of Indianapolis, with UIndy shooting a 288.

Grand Valley State women’s golf team headed to Indianapolis University last week to begin their tournament season. A rain filled Sunday resulted in difficult playing conditions on Monday, Sept. 10 and Tuesday, Sept. 11. Despite the poor state of the greens, head coach Rebecca Mailloux was pleased with the team’s performance, as they placed fifth overall in the tournament.

Junior Katie Chipman is returning to Grand Valley State women’s golf team this year as an on-the-rise athlete in Division II. As a sophomore, Chipman was named GLIAC Golfer of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the All-GLIAC First Team. She is currently among the top five golfers on the GVSU team, and is set to compete in the first tournament of the season starting Monday, Sept. 10.

If there were ever a time to find their winning groove, the Grand Valley State women’s golf team found the perfect time to do so right before the GLIAC Championships. After earning a first-place finish at the NC4K Classic on Tuesday, April 10, the Lakers repeated success with another victory, this time at the Ashland Invitational on Saturday, April 14, to close out the regular season. The final day of competition was canceled due to rain.

The Grand Valley State men’s golf team traveled to Noblesville, Indiana, to play in the Indianapolis Spring Invitational from Sunday, April 8, through Tuesday, April 10. The Lakers finished in second place overall in a field that consisted mostly of GLIAC rivals. This tournament would serve as the last tune-up for the team before next week’s GLIAC tournament.

During a road trip to Columbus, Ohio, the Grand Valley State women's golf team finished in first place at the NC4K College Classic with a two-day total of 599 on Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10. The Lakers took a five-stroke victory over second-place Northern Michigan, which shot a 604.
