Student senate creates petition for state funds

The agenda for the Grand Valley State University student senate’s general assembly on Thursday, Jan. 25, covered several issues. Five students were appointed to fill spots on senate committees; a petition for more state funding for GVSU was discussed; and senators were encouraged to complete 10 Outreach, Research and Engagement forms (OREs) in the next two weeks.

GOP gubernatorial candidate announces Grand Rapids town hall

Michigan Lt. Gov. Brian Calley, who is running for the governor's seat in this year’s election, announced the first of a series of town halls on Thursday, Jan. 18. The event will take place in Grand Rapids on Monday, Jan. 29, at the Kent County Republican Committee building, located at 725 Lake Michigan Dr. NW. The event will begin at 7 p.m.

CLAS pushes back deadline for committee nominations

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Grand Valley State University has recently extended the nomination deadline for CLAS representatives on different GVSU faculty committees in an effort to fill all the available seats and attract the right faculty members for each position. The deadline, which was originally supposed to be last week, has been extended until Friday, Jan. 26, at noon.

New sustainability project pitched at student senate meeting

A new sustainability initiative was proposed at the Grand Valley State University student senate’s general assembly on Thursday, Jan. 18. The meeting also included a guest speaker from the Office of Student Life, discussion on an upcoming conference at GVSU and reports from all members of the cabinet, as well as some of the senators.

Student senate holds first general assembly of 2018

The Grand Valley State University student senate convened Thursday, Jan. 11, for its first general assembly of the semester. The evening’s agenda included two guest speakers from the university, a public comment period, president and vice president reports and a working general assembly session.
