New sustainability project pitched at student senate meeting

A new sustainability initiative was proposed at the Grand Valley State University student senate’s general assembly on Thursday, Jan. 18. The meeting also included a guest speaker from the Office of Student Life, discussion on an upcoming conference at GVSU and reports from all members of the cabinet, as well as some of the senators.

Student senate holds first general assembly of 2018

The Grand Valley State University student senate convened Thursday, Jan. 11, for its first general assembly of the semester. The evening’s agenda included two guest speakers from the university, a public comment period, president and vice president reports and a working general assembly session.

Student senate votes on faculty awards

At its general assembly on Thursday, Dec. 7, Grand Valley State University’s student senate gathered to vote on the Student Award for Faculty Excellence (SAFE) and the Laker of the Year award. Guest speakers Kristen Evans and Sue Korzinek also addressed the assembly.

Democracy 101 event to focus on student debt, health in U.S.

As college tuition continues to become more expensive, the question of how students manage to support themselves becomes increasingly relevant. Not only are tuition fees rising, but the cost of living a healthy lifestyle is, too.  To explain the economic reasons behind the rise of student costs and debt in relation to food inequality in the U.S., Grand Valley State University professor George Lundskow will give a lecture as part of the Community Service Learning Center’s Democracy 101 series.
