Valentine's for a cause

The popular phrase “children are the future” was honored by the Grand Valley State University sorority Phi Mu Wednesday, Feb. 8, when the Greek organization volunteered at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The organization’s event at the hospital involved the sorority members making Valentine’s Day cards with the children. It was said by Phi Mu members that activities like this allow the children to feel an escape of sorts from the daily struggles of their illnesses.

GVSU fraternity to spend Valentine's Day raising funds for childhood cancer

For some people, Valentine’s Day means indulging sweets and spending the night alone, while others might be first in line at the supermarket with a box full of chocolates and giant stuffed animal that says “be mine.” However, Grand Valley State University’s Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) plans to celebrate the day by dropping carnations on students’ doorsteps and serenading them from a secret, or not-so-secret, admirer.

ATO continues to ‘walk hard’ for MS research

The term “university fundraiser” often brings up images of social gatherings or crowded rallies. For Grand Valley State University’s Alpha Tau Omega fraternity however, fundraising is no clean-cut effort. The group is gearing up for their annual “ATO Walks Hard” event, which donates proceeds to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Delta Zeta hosts 'Hike for Hearing' event

Over the years, Greek life at Grand Valley State University has focused its resources, efforts and time on philanthropy and working towards making a difference in the community. The GVSU Delta Zeta chapter brought its philanthropy outdoors to an off-campus nature trail for the second annual "Hike for Hearing" event.
