GVSU DIII hockey beats, ties Michigan State in two-game series

The Grand Valley State men’s club hockey team (Division III) defeated and tied the Michigan State Spartans over the weekend, traveling between East Lansing and the Georgetown Ice Center for the doubleheader. Friday, Dec. 9 saw the Lakers upset the higher-ranked Spartans on the road at Suburban Ice Arena 4-1. Sophomore Mitch Lawton and freshman Brody Vanderline each scored and assisted on a goal in the victory. The Lakers returned home the following day Saturday, Dec. 10 for the second game.

GVSU DI roller hockey sweeps MCRHL tournament

The Grand Valley State club roller hockey team (Division I) recently traveled to Homer Glen, Illinois Saturday, Nov. 19 and Sunday, Nov. 20 to compete in the MCRHL Tournament, where the team went undefeated. “It took us a little time to adjust,” GVSU defenseman Kenny Washburn said. “By the end of the tournament, we really came together.”

GVSU DII hockey outscores DePaul 13-2 in two-game series

After coming off a rough weekend series where the Grand Valley State men’s club hockey team (Division II) only scored two goals against Miami of Ohio, the Lakers had to make apparent changes to its offense. “We had a pretty tough week of practice with the improvement of offense in mind, but this team wasn’t satisfied after playing Miami,” said GVSU coach Mike Forbes.

GVSU DII hockey sweeps Lindenwood-Belleville

In a two-game weekend series, the Grand Valley State Division II men’s club hockey team did something that no other DII team has done against Lindenwood-Belleville. The Lakers traveled to Belleville and swept the Lynx with two 4-3 wins. It marked the first time that a Division II team swept the Lynx on their home ice.
