GVSU soccer faces Western Michigan in spring season scrimmage

After the graduation of seven core seniors from the roster, the Grand Valley State women’s soccer team now faces the challenge of finding a new identity before next season. In order to speed up that process, the Lakers hosted a scrimmage against the Division I Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday, March 24, at the GVSU soccer field.

GVSU soccer legend Gabriella Mencotti inks pro contract with Iceland club

After a career filled with trophies for Grand Valley State soccer, one forward is making her away across the Atlantic. In February, graduating forward Gabriella Mencotti signed a professional contract with Throttur FC (Icelandic: Knattspyrnufélagið Þróttur and pronounced "pro-tour") to play for the club's women's team. Mencotti, who will graduate in April, plans to join the club in May.

Although it's still early in the season for both Grand Valley State basketball programs, the women’s team has come out to an especially strong start in their season and GLIAC play. A major reason for that success has been senior forward Taylor Parmley, who was recently named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week after two breakout performances against GLIAC opponents Wayne State on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Davenport University on Saturday, Dec. 2.

GVSU soccer advances to Midwest Regional Championship after 4-0 win over Ohio Dominican

The road to their fifth straight NCAA National Championship appearance continues for the Grand Valley State soccer team. In the Midwest Regional Semifinals, the No. 1-seeded Lakers (19-3-0) didn’t skip a beat in their convincing 4-0 victory over the No. 5-seeded Ohio Dominican (16-5-2) in the rain Sunday, Nov. 12, at the GVSU soccer field. The win advances the Lakers to the Midwest Regional Championship.
