Quick hits: Three GVSU athletes earn GLIAC honors

It was a great weekend for the Grand Valley State volleyball team, which won 3-1 against Ashland Friday, Sept. 15, and 3-0 against Tiffin Saturday, Sept. 16. One of the major reasons for their dominance was due to junior blocker Staci Brower, whose play on the court was awarded with the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week Monday, Sept. 18.

GVSU women's soccer cruises to easy 9-0 win over Tiffin

Grand Valley State women’s soccer continued its winning streak at home Sunday, Sept. 17. Hosting GLIAC rival Tiffin in the program’s final game before conference play, the Lakers cruised to a 9-0 victory in Allendale. The Lakers dominated the game, outshooting the Dragons 25 to 6. The team also earned its fourth consecutive shutout.

After an 0-2 start to the season, the Grand Valley State women’s soccer team bounced back by recording two straight shutouts in their 2-0 victories over Cedarville University and Minnesota State-Mankato. Being rewarded for her work on the defensive end is freshman Cecilia Steinwascher, who was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week Monday, Sept. 11.
