GVSU softball sweeps home-opening doubleheader against Ferris

Without a cloud in the sky and temperatures reaching the upper 40s, the No. 23 ranked Grand Valley State softball team was finally greeted by their fans during the team’s home-opening doubleheader against Ferris State on Sunday, March 18. Fueled by more great pitching performances by Allison Lipovsky and Allie Grys, the Lakers shut out the Bulldogs, winning their contests 3-0 and 2-0, respectively.

GVSU softball goes 3-1 at Lewis Dome Tournament

In the Grand Valley State women’s softball team’s first tournament of the season, the Lakers walked away with three wins in four games. During their trip to Rosemont, Illinois—the home of the Lewis Dome Tournament—the Lakers got another taste of early-season action Friday, Feb. 23, and Saturday, Feb. 24, competing in a doubleheader both days.

Season preview: GVSU softball brings back seven starters to try for another playoff run

The Grand Valley State softball team is coming off a big 2017 season, where the Lakers won a GLIAC title with a 33-18 overall record (17-5 GLIAC) and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the seventh year in a row. The team would drop two out of three contests in the Midwest Regional Tournament, but those losses have the Lakers poised to build on last year’s strong season.
