Driven to dead center field and crash-landing next to the American flag blowing in the wind, junior Ellie Balbach’s second home run of the season set the tone early. But, late heroics by the Lewis Flyers on the last hit of the series brought the Lakers back down to Earth.

Rankings and resume-building wins are buzzwords when the calendar turns to March. In college softball, not so much. Andrasik expands arsenal for GVSU softball

Fatigued, yet focused. Grand Valley State senior Sara Andrasik wound up from 43 feet away and delivered pitch No. 125 on the evening. No called third strike this time, but a grounder over to the shortstop meant the same thing – GVSU softball was off to a winning start in 2016.

Collaborative GVSU effort produces two documentaries

Tucked deep in a corner, down a narrow hallway in Lake Superior Hall, a man sits, ready to share his stories.The stories start in the World War II era, traversing through the Midwest, interacting with female trailblazers and Philip K. Wrigley of Chicago Cubs and chewing gum lore. The stories travel south to a rundown baseball stadium in Havana, Cuba, and brush up with foreign politics.

GVSU offense stalls in tournament play

The Grand Valley State softball team saw its season come to a disappointing end in the 2015 NCAA Division IIMidwest Regional Tournament as the Lakers fell to No.17 Southern Indiana 4-2 in the opening game, before dropping their second contest to GLIAC rival Wayne State 3-0.
