GVSU soccer holds Purdue-Northwest to zero shots in 9-0 blowout victory

After the final whistle blew at the No. 4-ranked Grand Valley State soccer (12-2, 6-0 GLIAC) contest against Purdue University Northwest (0-11, 0-7 GLIAC), one team recorded a staggering 50 shots, while the other team had zero. Luckily for the Lakers, they were the team bringing the high-shooting numbers, dominating on all cylinders during the team’s 9-0 victory over Purdue-Northwest under the lights at home Friday, Oct. 13. Out of the Lakers’ 50 shots, 26 of them were shots on goal.

The United Soccer Coaches organization is the largest community of soccer coaches in the world.

Guarding the net: GVSU men's hockey goalie Jared Maddock anchors defense

A hockey team can only be as good as its goalie. The difference between good and elite hockey teams is the quality play of its goalie, especially in high-pressure situations. Luckily, sophomore Jared Maddock has already proven to be a skilled goalie for the Grand Valley State men's club hockey team (Division II), and his high-quality play could be exactly what GVSU needs to make a deep run in the tournament or even win a national championship.
