Grand Valley's Gunslinger

Every good football team needs a good quarterback: a confident leader who is calm under pressure and can make big plays in crunch time. Luckily for the Grand Valley State football team, they have that leader in Bart Williams. The senior has been at the helm for GVSU for a while, starting 39 games for the Lakers. In those games, he has completed 642 of 1,090 passes for 9,854 yards and 105 touchdowns, ranking him first amongst active returning Division II quarterbacks in those respective categories.

Former GVSU football star Martayveus Carter shot, community offers support

Grand Valley State football’s all-time leading rusher, Martayveus ‘Marty’ Carter, was shot while at a gas station in East Chicago, Ind.  Carter was initially in critical condition but has since pulled through, though his journey to full recovery is far from over. He is currently facing paralysis from a bullet being lodged in his spine. No further updates have been made available by his family.

New Beginnings: After abrupt ending in 2017, GVSU Volleyball is ready to return

While the 2017 Grand Valley State volleyball team had an earlier exit than expected, the girls are back this year and ready more than ever to take back the court. While the Lakers did bring home the GLIAC South Division Championship, they had a heart-wrenching loss to Wayne State in the GLIAC tournament last November, losing 2-3. The team not only lost the game, but also four seniors due to graduation. This opened up some new spots for freshmen to fill in making this year's team very young.

Where are they now? A glimpse at former Lakers in the NFL

As the NFL season gets closer with each coming day, many rookies are looking to prove themselves and earn a spot on an NFL roster. Among those rookies, a few former Grand Valley State football players are looking to establish themselves, whether it's as a starter or just simply making a team and achieving their dream.
