Seniors look to take the next step both on and off the tennis court

The five seniors on the Grand Valley State women’s tennis team competed for the last time in front of their home crowd Sunday, Feb. 24 against Walsh.  The heralded senior class — comprised of Madison Ballard, Livia Christman, Nicole Heiniger, Katarina Samardzija and Samantha Schrepferman — has won 205 individual and 81 team matches and three GLIAC titles so far, but with almost an entire spring season still ahead of them, the Lakers are determined to finish strong.

The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky University on the afternoon of Friday, April 6. At the event, 10 different athletes hit NCAA provisional marks.  The Laker women currently sit at No. 7 in the national poll, while the men are No. 11.


Quick hits: Men's DIII hockey season comes to an end, men's tennis wins fourth straight

In a season where the Grand Valley State men’s Division III hockey players organized community event after event to raise funding for various foundations, it was hard to root against this year’s team. Heading into postseason contention, the Lakers were gunning to become true National Championship contenders. But sadly, this team’s stretch of success was cut short in the first round of the ACHA North Regionals against Adrian College on Friday, Feb. 23.
