GVSU volleyball splits two-game road trip

The Grand Valley State volleyball team split yet another weekend series during conference play, the third in a row and sixth this year. With a 3-0 loss against Saginaw Valley State Cardinals Friday, Nov. 5 and a win by the same tally in the Upper Peninsula against Lake Superior State Saturday, Nov. 6, Grand Valley State now sits at 14-12 (8-7 GLIAC).

GVSU splits home weekend series

The Grand Valley State volleyball team split yet another weekend series at home, beating the Northern Michigan Wildcats (13-12, 4-7 GLIAC) in a 3-1 affair Friday, Oct. 28 and then fell 3-1 to the Michigan Tech Huskies (12-13, 7-5 GLIAC) Saturday, Oct. 29. The Lakers now sit at 13-10 (7-5 GLIAC).

GVSU volleyball splits with Wayne State, Findlay

The Grand Valley State volleyball team split a weekend series with the Wayne State Warriors and Findlay Oilers. The Lakers beat the first-place Warriors in Detroit Friday, Oct. 21 by a score of 3-0 to knock the Warriors to 17-5 (8-2 GLIAC), and then fell to the second-place Oilers 3-1 in Findlay the next day, Saturday, Oct. 22, bumping them up to 16-6 (9-2 GLIAC). The Lakers now sit at 12-9 (6-4 GLIAC).

GVSU volleyball goes 1-2 at Midwest Region Crossover

The Grand Valley State volleyball team went 1-2 in the ninth annual Midwest Region Crossover tournament in Aurora, Illinois, dropping games to the Drury Panthers (14-7, 6-3 GLVC) by a score of 3-1 Friday, Oct. 14 and the Indianapolis Greyhounds (10-10, 5-4 GLVC) 3-0 Saturday, Oct. 15, but defeated the McKendree Bearcats (13-8, 8-1 GLVC) 3-1 on the same day.

Brower, Suseland duo a force for GVSU volleyball

The Blackhawks and the Red Wings. The University of Michigan and Ohio State. No matter where people turn in life, personal rivalries play a huge role. It could be that scrappy point guard from a rival high school. Maybe it’s the kid who sat two rows to the left that always got the highest grade in the class. Or maybe it’s something all the way back to a kid playing backyard football with the neighborhood kids.

GVSU volleyball downs Tiffin, Ashland at home

The Grand Valley State volleyball team lost a set to the Tiffin Dragons for the first time in school history on Friday. The rest of the weekend would go their way, though, as the Lakers came away with two home victories at Fieldhouse Arena over the Tiffin Dragons (9-8, 3-6 GLIAC) Oct. 7 and the Ashland Eagles (10-8, 4-5 GLIAC) Oct. 8, both by scores of 3-1 to raise their record to 10-6 (5-3 GLIAC).

The Grand Valley State volleyball team split their weekend series with a win at Ohio Dominican (4-9, 1-5 GLIAC) Friday, Sept. 30 by a score of 3-1 and then a loss at Lake Erie (10-6, 3-3 GLIAC) Saturday, Oct. 1 by the same score. The Lakers now sit at 8-6 (3-3 GLIAC). The first match against the Ohio Dominican Panthers was close. The bout featured 20 ties and 12 lead changes (25-23, 24-26, 25-22, and 26-24).
