Hockey club posts 1-0-1 weekend series

A pair of ACHA Division II powerhouse teams collided at Georgetown Ice Center over the weekend as Grand Valley State University hosted Lindenwood University in back-to-back games. The teams began the weekend as the top teams in the Central Division.

The Lakers got off to a slow start in game one, falling behind 4-1. The tides quickly turned, however, and GVSU put up five consecutive goals to storm back in a 6-4 victory on Friday night.

GVSU’s Collin Finkhouse supplied the game-winning goal at the 12:56 mark in the third period. Finkhouse, J.D. Duckworth, Nick Schultz and Corbin Rainey all finished with two points.

The encore was a similar high-scoring affair, but ended in a 5-5 tie. Troy Marrett led the way for GVSU with two assists and a third-period goal.

GVSU moves to 12-2-0-1 on the season, and will play next on Nov. 14 at Davenport University.
