Report highlights Mayor’s Community Conversations Initiative findings

The Community Research Institute at Grand Valley State University’s Johnson Center for Philanthropy has recently issued a report that highlights some significant findings from several community conversations in response to questions from Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell’s 2012 State of the City address. Findings in the report “Community Conversations About the Children of Grand Rapids,” are comprehensive responses from a wide array of more than 750 adults and youth who gave their input at the community meetings during the year. This report includes approaches that address issues facing children in Grand Rapids. Some of these suggestions are pursuing a balanced approach to prioritizing youth needs, collaborating on projects, etc.
