Family Weekend starts Friday, Sept. 22

Grand Valley State University will host its annual Family Weekend from Friday, Sept. 22, through Sunday, Sept. 24.  This year’s theme is “Valley of Colors,” as the weekend of events coincides with ArtPrize in Grand Rapids.

Events will include performances of different Shakespeare plays, ArtPrize tours, a tailgate at the Fieldhouse Arena, dueling pianos entertainment, a 5K walk/run, sports games and more.

Sustainable Agriculture Project to hold annual Harvest Party

The Sustainable Agriculture Project at Grand Valley State University will host its annual Harvest Party Friday, Sept. 22, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Wesley house.

As part of the event, there will be a potluck, music and yard games. Attendees should bring a dish to pass and label their dish to alert individuals with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

The Harvest Party is LIB 100-approved.

University Counseling Center to host ‘Laker Familia Lunch Discussion’

Staff from the Grand Valley State University Counseling Center (UCC) will hold a “Laker Familia Lunch Discussion” Tuesday, Sept. 26, from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 0073 of the Kirkhof Center.

This weekly event is an opportunity for students to discuss issues affecting Latino/a, Hispanic and Chicano/a students in personal, academic and professional areas.

Padnos International Center to hold ‘Global Games’

The Padnos International Center at Grand Valley State University will host its “Global Games” Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Kelly Family Sports Center.

The event will feature international games, competitions and “how-to-play” workshops. 

The Global Games are free and open to the public.

Blood drives coming to campus

The Michigan Blood bus will be on the Allendale Campus from Tuesday, Sept. 26, through Friday, Sept. 29, to run blood drives.

Tuesday and Wednesday, the bus will be outside the Kleiner Market. Thursday and Friday, it will be outside the Kirkhof Center.

Potential donors should be well-rested, hydrated and well-fed, and they should bring their driver’s license with them.
