Ebb and Flow: Explorations in Paintings by Herbert Murrie

'Ebb and Flow' exhibit highlights artist’s creative journey, return to fine arts

Creators of all kinds follow a similar process of being inspired, creating, revising and repeating until the product is satisfactory. For artist Herbert Murrie, his entire artistic career focuses on the cycle of creation and revision, a notion that Joel Zwart, Grand Valley State University curator of exhibitions, said will be captured in “Ebb and Flow: Explorations in Painting by Herbert Murrie,” opening Monday, Jan. 15, as the GVSU Art Gallery’s next exhibition.

Capturing wanderlust: GVSU graduate showcases photos from trip to India

While studying abroad, many students use photography to document their experiences. In 2016, Grand Valley State University graduate Maya Grant traveled to India under a photography scholarship and is currently showcasing their photographs in an exhibit titled “Traveling with Bangalore Wanderlusters: Reflections on a Semester in India.” The exhibition is displayed in the Blue Wall Gallery in the Richard M. DeVos Center in Grand Rapids.

Dance seniors perform final show at GVSU

Grand Valley State University seniors Sarah Byington, Coral Howard, Mackenzie Matyn, Leigha McDaniel and Hannah Suydam hosted their final dance show on Saturday, Dec. 9. From holding auditions for dancers, choreographing the routines and styling the costumes, these performers had a part in all of it.

Arts briefs 12/11/17

Comedian Daphnique Springs will be visiting Grand Valley State Univeristy to perform Tuesday, Dec. 12, starting at 8 p.m. in the Cook-DeWitt Center. Springs is being brought to campus by Spotlight Productions as a part of GVSU’s "exam cram."
