Warming up: GVSU men's basketball making the most of preseason contests

As all Grand Valley State fall sports begin to either start playoffs or say farewell to their season, the core winter sports will finally have a chance to compete in action after a seemingly long offseason.  One of those sports teams busy in preparation is GVSU men’s basketball, which has already kicked off preseason action in preparation for the regular-season opener against the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday, Nov. 10, in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Column: Breaking down the Kyrie Irving trade

Whether you’ve been paying attention to it or not, the National Basketball League (NBA), as it is right now, has never been more popular (or exciting).   A major contributing factor has been this summer’s offseason of blockbuster trades and franchise-altering free-agency signings that have an equivalent amount of drama as an episode of Game of Thrones.

The hustle continues

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team’s season came to an end in late February in GLIAC Tournament action with a 67-59 loss to Findlay. The Lakers, who closed the 2016-17 season 16-13 overall, said goodbye to three seniors in Trevin Alexander, Luke Ryskamp and Juwan Starks. As players leave and seasons end, new young and hungry prospects show up to GVSU summer camps hoping to impress the coaches and get an offer to join Laker basketball.
