GVSU hoops goes 2-1 over Holiday break

Whatever New Year’s resolutions Grand Valley State reserve center Justin Greason made appear to be working. Greason led the Lakers in maybe his best game of the season with 18 points and ten rebounds in a 73-62 win over the Lake Erie Storm (2-14, 1-7 GLIAC) on the road Saturday, Jan. 7.

GVSU women's hoops opens GLIAC play undefeated

Statistics look pretty in the box score, but what makes and breaks games in this sport are hustle plays fans overlook. This combination of stats and hustle plays has allowed the Grand Valley State women's basketball team to excel after starting the season 1-1. No. 17-ranked GVSU has now won five straight games and opened conference play on a high note after sweeping its slate of home games this week, Dec. 1-3. The Lakers (6-1) handled GLIAC foes Findlay 64-43 and Ohio Dominican 81-77.

GVSU ends nonconference slate 2-1

The Grand Valley State men’s basketball team (4-3) ended its nonconference slate 2-1 in a three-game stretch that started Monday, Nov. 21 with an 88-55 win over the Grace Bible Tigers in Allendale. The Lakers then the traveled to Rensselaer, Indiana for the Saint Joseph’s College Thanksgiving Classic Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26.
