The Grand Valley State University organization ACES, which is centered on education about alcohol and other drugs, will be hosting a 12-step meeting on Monday, Jan. 22, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Room 0073.

GVSU to hold memorial service for professor emeritus

Later this week, Grand Valley State University will honor a former faculty member who passed away Dec. 8, 2017. Robert Mayberry was a philosophy and communications professor who started at GVSU in 1971. The memorial service is set to take place Friday, Jan. 12, at 3:30 p.m. in the Cook-DeWitt Center on the Allendale Campus.

A new exhibit is available to be viewed at Grand Valley State University. "Arranged Objects: A Few Good Bones" is a poetry-centered collection that can be seen in the Mary Idema Pew Library’s Exhibition Space.


Office of Multicultural Affairs hosts 'exam cram' relaxation events

Just hearing the words “exam cram” can be enough to stress out college students. At Grand Valley State University, students scramble to write papers, finish projects and study for tests during the last two weeks of the semester, which creates a lot of pressure. With this in mind, the OMA is hosting exam cram relaxation, a week-and-a-half-long program to help students combat finals fatigue. All of the activities are free and open to everyone.


GVSU students to host sex-education resource fair

Despite the reality that thousands of college students are sexually active, the topic is not often openly discussed, which can lead to a lack of sexual education among college students.  To combat miseducation and to advocate for safe sex, students from Grand Valley State University’s LIB 326 course, "Sexuality, Justice and Advocacy," will be is hosting the Get Sex(Ed) Resource Fair, the university’s first peer-led sexuality-education-resource fair.

The Grand Valley State University theater program is continuing its performances of "Cabaret" from Thursday, Nov. 30, through Sunday, Dec. 3. The Thursday-Saturday showings are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday showing is at 2 p.m.
