Karen Ingle to assume associate VP of facilities planning role

Grand Valley State University will have a new head of facilities starting next month. With the announcement of former head of facilities James Moyer’s retirement, Karen Ingle will fill the position of associate vice president for facilities planning Sunday, April 1, and will be tasked with continuing the university’s commitment to sustainable development and efficient stewardship of campuses resources.

Eric Liu defines citizenship at Wheelhouse Talk

Eric Liu, author, columnist and CEO of Citizen University, captivated an audience at the L.V. Eberhard Center with his talk about citizenship and activism. He spoke at Grand Valley State University on Wednesday, March 14. His speech followed a simple formula: Power plus character is citizenship, or P + CH = CI.

Learning how to navigate gender roles abroad

As Grand Valley State University continues to encourage students to study abroad, students have the opportunity to learn about how to address issues of identity in new surroundings. "Navigating Roles Abroad" is a discussion that will be led by a panel of returned Peace Corps volunteers and study-abroad alumni and faculty. The discussion will take place Wednesday, March 21, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mary Idema Pew Library Multipurpose Room.

Grand Valley State University's student senate announced that funding requests for student organizations between July 1 and Oct. 1 need to be submitted between Monday, March 19, and Monday, April 9.

Design Thinking Academy searching for applicants

Grand Valley State University’s Design Thinking Academy is looking for applicants for the fall semester. The academy, headed by director John Berry, is looking to accept 20 new members, and at less than a year old, it has already attracted the interest of many students.

Head of facilities planning announces retirement

James Moyer, Grand Valley State University’s associate vice president for facilities planning, will be retiring at the end of this month after 22 years with the university. Since starting in 1996, Moyer has witnessed GVSU change from a small institution serving the Grand Rapids area to a large regional university that attracts students from all over the world.
