GVSU soccer defeats Ohio Dominican, Findlay

The Grand Valley State soccer team swept the weekend series against the Ohio Dominican Panthers Friday, Oct. 14 and the Findlay Oilers Sunday, Oct. 16. The Lakers (13-1-1) cruised to a 3-0 victory against the Panthers and followed it up with a 11-0 shutout over the Oilers.

GVSU soccer goes 2-0 on weekend road trip

After the team’s first loss of the season Wednesday, Oct. 5, the Grand Valley State soccer team bounced back with a two-game sweep over the weekend on the road. The Lakers edged out Walsh 1-0 Friday, Oct. 7 and beat Lake Erie 8-0 Sunday Oct. 9. In the first game of the weekend, Walsh gave GVSU everything the team could handle, but the Lakers managed to hold on to the one-goal lead.

GVSU soccer suffers first loss to Florida Tech 2-1

For the first time since Oct. 17, 2014, the Grand Valley State University women’s soccer team lost a game on its home field. The No. 1 Lakers were upset by No. 14 Florida Tech 2-1 Wednesday, Oct. 5. In the first half, the Lakers were in unfamiliar territory. Florida Tech University rattled off more shots on goal than the Lakers in the first 45 minutes.

GVSU soccer sweeps two GLIAC opponents

On Friday, Sept. 30, Lubbers Stadium was packed with loyal Lakers’ fans, but not for the football team. The Grand Valley State women’ soccer team faced off against Tiffin at Lubbers Stadium for Friday Night Fútbol. The Lakers (9-0-1) trounced Tiffin 10-0 in the first women’s soccer game at Lubbers Stadium. Following Friday’s win, GVSU completed another shutout in a 5-0 win over Ashland.

GVSU finds recruiting pipeline in Northville High School

The Grand Valley State women’s soccer team recruits players from all over the state and Midwest region in order to stay in the national championship picture every year. While many of the players come from the surrounding Grand Rapids area, four current players are from the opposite side of the state, and from the same high school.
