GVSU club gymnastics captures NAIGC National Championship

The Grand Valley State club gymnastics team traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, last week to participate in the NAIGC National Championship.  This is the first time in program and school history that the team has qualified for Nationals as a team. In their first National Championship final appearance, they managed to leave Texas as the NAIGC National Champions.

The Grand Valley State softball team is exceeding already-high expectations this season, as the Lakers' current record is 29-5. They remain undefeated in the GLIAC with a 16-0 record, holding sole possession of first place in the conference while being in the midst of a 21-game winning streak. There have been many reasons for this team’s success, including the high performance and consistency from the catcher position. Redshirt junior Kaylie Rhynard is the reason for that consistency.

GVSU football holds annual Spring Classic

The Grand Valley State Laker football team hosted the annual Spring Classic practice on Saturday, April 14, in conclusion of the 15-practice spring schedule.  The event, which typically takes place at Lubbers Stadium, was moved to the Kelly Family Sports Center due to inclement weather. The event is held to show fans, friends and family what the team has been working on during spring practice and give them a taste of what can be expected come August.

GVSU lacrosse falls to UIndy, rebounds with win over McKendree

The Grand Valley State women’s lacrosse team took to the road once again to face off against two GLIAC opponents over the weekend.  On Friday, April 13, the Lakers traveled to Indiana to take on No. 15 ranked University of Indianapolis and then to Illinois to play McKendree University on Sunday, April 15. The Lakers would split the weekend series after dropping the first matchup 18-16 against UIndy but redeeming themselves with a 21-10 victory over McKendree.

Seven members of men's DIII hockey represent GVSU in all-star tournament

The Grand Valley State men’s Division III hockey team fell to Adrian University in the first round of playoffs early March, but their season and accomplishments did not end there. This past weekend, seven members of the team, as well as head coach Charlie Link, traveled to Philadelphia to compete in the ACHA All-Star Tournament, which ran from Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15.
