Lakers host 'Be a Rose' donation drive

While many people know feminine hygiene products are as much a necessity as toothpaste or shampoo, not all people have access to them. As a result, the Grand Valley State University organization Professional Organization for Women Entering Reality (POWER) has started working with the Be a Rose foundation by hosting a donation drive for feminine hygiene products.

Eyes Wide Open celebrates 15 years at GVSU

For 15 years students at Grand Valley State University have been working together to spread education and awareness about sexual assault on campus through the student-run organization Eyes Wide Open. The advocacy group will celebrate its 15th birthday Thursday, Nov. 10 with a poetry slam focused on giving a voice to people facing oppression.

BRCAn't Stop Me focuses on cancer education

Nearly 40 percent of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes, according to the National Cancer Institute. Thousands of people face this often unpredictable disease, but a student-run group at Grand Valley State University is working to spread knowledge on hereditary cancers.

GVSU Humane Society celebrates Halloween with service

From educating the public on meatless diets to advocating to end animal abuse, Grand Valley State University’s student-run Human Society is dedicated to making a difference in the community. As Halloween approaches, the organization started its festivities by volunteering for the "Zoo Goes Boo" event at the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids.

New student club represents Wiccan faith

Among the 450 student organizations and clubs to choose from at Grand Valley State University, students are invited to join a plethora of religious and faith-based groups offered throughout the year. However, new to GVSU’s campus this year is the Wiccan club.
